I thought that this activity could be easily adapted to make bracelets, but I decided to use straws instead of beads. I cut the straws up into small pieces and provided pipe cleaners – very quick set-up!

Threading the straws was great fine motor skills practice for him. If he held the pipe cleaner at the far end it was harder to get the straw on, so he worked out he should hold it nearer the threading end.

He also threaded straws with his right AND left hand!

Once the pipe cleaner was full of straws, I twisted the ends round each other.

Then I poked the ends into the straws so that there were no sharp ends.

My husband was heading back to the UK on business so he took these with him to give to two of F’s cousins. I hope they liked them!
