Here are six very cute Christmas Perler Bead designs that make perfect ornaments for the kids to make!

Do you remember our Perler bead key chains from a few months ago? My son still loves making different designs with the beads – although usually they are his own creations! I decided to see how good he would be at following a pattern, and make some fun Christmas ornaments at the same time!
Luckily I discovered Perbee – a site which is really handy for making your own designs! It’s free, you can print them out, and any of the designs you create go into their online library for anyone to browse. As I was only making small simple designs, that sounded like a great deal to me!
I made six designs:
- Santa Hat
- Gift
- Candy Cane
- Tree
- Snowman
- Reindeer
I’ve added them to my Craftulate Store so you can find my designs easily.
I left the designs out for my son to find, and when he did he immediately wanted to get started! Grabbing our huge container of beads, he got started on the gift design.
He didn’t do all the designs in one sitting, just one every now and then when he was in the mood.
Sometimes we would work together – I would find the right beads and he would put them in place, or vice versa. With some of the trickier designs, my son found it easier if I made a start, then he could complete it. 
Note: The candy cane design works best if made on a peg board that has unaligned pegs to get a better curve.
Once each design was finished, we carefully carried them to the ironing board and used ironing paper and a medium hot iron to fuse the beads together. I deliberately left the holes slightly open, especially at the top, because I knew I would be threading some cord through to hang up each ornament.
Once all six were complete I added a thread to hang them, and they were ready to go onto the tree!
