These paper plate snakes are a fun and frugal craft for kids to make.

We love simple paper plate crafts! We used a simple collage technique to make the pattern on the snake – it looks really effective!
To make these snakes we used:
- White paper plates
- White glue
- Small pieces of construction paper and tissue paper in greens/browns/yellows
- Mod Podge Washout for Kids
- Scissors
- Red construction paper
- Googly eyes
My son decided to make two snakes – a small “mommy” one and a baby one! The baby one he just wanted green. I spread some glue over the back of a small paper plate and he covered it in green paper pieces.
Then he made the bigger snake, but using the other colours.
We brushed everything in a layer of Mod Podge Washout – this glued down any overlapping pieces and also gave everything a shiny smooth look. This stage is totally optional – it depends what kind of finished look you want for your snake!
I cut the plates into a spiral, shaping the head in the centre.
Then we glued on a forked tongue and some eyes! The snakes were complete!
