This handprint corn cob craft uses straws to make the texture of the corn. It’s a perfect art activity for the fall!

The first part of this craft is to make some prints to resemble the corn. We did this by slightly bending the end of a straw to make an oval shape, dipping it in yellow paints, and stamping with it onto white card. As usual I used paper plates as paint trays for super quick clean-up!
The kids were concerned that they would have to fill the whole page so they were happier when I said that they only had to stamp an area large enough to make a handprint.
When the paint had dried they traced around their hand in pencil then cut it out. This was pretty tricky and the younger ones needed help with this part.
Then they glued the handprint onto some construction paper, and cut out green corn husks from card. I love all the different versions!
With hindsight I realised that the cobs would look better with closed-finger handprints. So the next day we made another version – I think I prefer it but I like all of them!
