It’s Fine Motor Friday! These scissor practice flowers are great for working on simple cutting skills, squeezing and pincer grip.

To prepare for this activity I collected some yellow card for the center of the flower, green card for the stems, and construction paper for the petals. I took everything to a friend’s house and we had an off-site craft session!
To start with the girls (Miss L, 4.5yrs and Miss E, 6yrs) used the base of a cup to trace around and draw a circle, then cut it out.
Then they cut strips of construction paper in whichever color combinations they chose to make the petals. This really worked on their scissor skills as they could make the strips as long or as short as they liked, but they needed lots of them!
Then they glued the petals to the yellow circle. Squeeeeeeze that glue!
They made three flowers each but then Miss E wanted to glue hers onto some grass, so we hastily made a blue and green background for their flowers – unfortunately it wasn’t really big enough!
The girls made some really lovely creations and unknowingly got lots of fine motor practice, too!
