Kids can make beautiful animal mosaics with just some outlines and marker pens!

This art activity needs very little preparation – just print out some templates in advance. I decided to have an animal theme – but it could be whatever your kids are keen on right now! I printed a selection from Activity Village – they were perfect for this project.
I set out a variety of marker pens and invited them to fill the animal outline by drawing tiny shapes. I also completed one picture in advance to demonstrate the technique. I used mainly squares and triangles but any shapes work – although the smaller they are the more effective it looks. The girls happily got to work!
This art technique was perfect for a quiet Sunday morning! Here are some of the finished pieces!
They look like a really pretty mosaic – but also a bit like stained glass! And I loved that a few personal touches were added here and there!
