Summer Strawberry Playdough - made with real strawberries!

This play dough is perfect for the summer! It is so easy to make and smells fantastic.

To make this dough I used:

  • 3 large very ripe strawberries, chopped
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup flour
  • 2 tbs salt
  • ½ tsp cream of tartar

First I made scented strawberry water by simmering the strawberries and water together.Summer Strawberry Playdough

I squished the strawberries every now and then to extract as much juice as possible and to help them break down.Summer Strawberry Playdough

Then I drained the liquid, discarding the pulp. I returned the liquid to the saucepan and added the other ingredients. I gave it a good stir!Summer Strawberry Playdough

At this point you can assess whether you like the color and add extra red food dye if you would like it brighter. I went for the natural look! Cook the play dough over a low heat, stirring constantly. After a few minutes it will start to clump together.Summer Strawberry Playdough

Remove it from the heat and place the dough onto a piece of wax paper. Let cool slightly, then knead until smooth. Then your all-natural play dough is ready!
