This leaf collage is designed to look as if your child is blowing the leaves! The perfect art project for the fall.

As soon as the leaves start turning, I just have to be out there collecting them. Over the years we have tried preserving them, making a sorting board for them, and more! I was inspired by Teach Them To Fly to make this collage with my son, that looked like he was blowing real leaves.
Our first task was to collect some leaves. The leaves are turning REALLY late this year, so we had to hunt for “clean and pretty leaves”.
Before we went back inside, I asked my son to pretend to blow something off his hand. He was bemused, but like any good child-of-a-blogger, he shrugged and posed for the photo. Here’s the full picture – look how green it is! Seriously, this pic was taken in early October in Illinois!
I got it printed out twice at my local photo shop, and carefully cut around his outline with precision tip scissors. Then I glued it onto white card – check the position that your child is in to see where their photo should go. For F’s picture it made most sense for him to be top right of the picture.
I showed F the concept of the art project, and he started adding glue.
Then he started adding leaves.
And all of a sudden, he was done! After just three leaves. And no, he didn’t want to add any more. Looking at his final collage, I can totally see what he was aiming for – blowing the leaves in one long line.
However, I had something more random and “gusty” in mind, so I completed the second collage using some of the remaining leaves.
