If you have a young child that is putting everything in their mouth, but you want to try painting with them, then this is a great recipe for edible paint.

Homemade Paint (taste-safe!):
- 3 tbs sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup cornstarch (corn flour)
- 2 cups water
- food colouring
Obviously these paints aren’t for eating in great quantities, but should your child put any in its mouth then it won’t be harmful. But these paints are cheap to make and great for sensory play. The only downside is that I found the paint formed a few crusty bits as it dried, but I found that this could be avoided by removing any excess paint before it dried.
So you might not get frame-able artwork at the end of it – but it’s pretty good fun!
